At BCCI, a meeting was held between H.E. Nargiz Gurbanova, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Azerbaijan in Bulgaria, Zulfiyya Alizada, Economic Officer of the Embassy and Tsvetan Simeonov, President of BCCI.
The meeting is a continuation of the mutual efforts to expand the bilateral economic relations. Opportunities for future development and intensification of the cooperation between the two countries were discussed, focusing on the launch of direct flights between Sofia and Baku, which will start in the beginning of 2018.
The other discussed topics included the upcoming Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU and Bulgaria’s activity within the Eastern Partnership (which also includes Azerbaijan). In this regard, the Bulgarian Presidency will face challenges but also many new opportunities to promote the relations and partnership between the two countries. The opinion was expressed that the main tool of cooperation remains connectivity – more flights means not only more active tourism but also more business, growing trade and new opportunities for partnership.
In this regard, Ambassador Gurbanova announced the organization of a trade mission from Azerbaijan, which will visit Bulgaria in the spring of 2018.
